**Annual Board Meeting

November 12, 2008 @ 7p.m.

Dean Durham and Dan Travelstead came away the big winners in this weekend’s Annual LOECC Two-Man Team Championship. Their consistent play in the Scramble, Better Ball, and Modified Chapman Alternate Shot formats, finishing second, third, and first, provided them with the overall two stroke victory. Dave Murphy and Ron Brown finished in a tie for second with Jerry Keller and Brian DeBose, with first round leaders Jeff Sanders and John “Bud” Patterson finishing fourth.

Nice weather, great course conditions, and a good field (not to mention the $3500 purse) made for an exciting weekend of golf. Full tournament results may be found by clicking on the “Team Championship” hyperlink.

Henry Neicamp is organizing a 5-person scramble to be held Saturday, November 1, at the Lake to benefit the National Foundation for Transplants and our own long-time member and good friend Brad Stauffer. “Punkin’” was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, and a bone marrow transplant is a must. The entry fee is $250 per team, and includes a Chili lunch at 11:00 and a 12:00 shotgun start. If you would like to sponsor a team or help out in any way, please call Henry at 751-3579.

The Marion Wildcats Girls Golf Team will tee it up Friday and Saturday at Stone Creek in their bid for the IHSA State Title in class 2A. They have once again won the Regional and Sectional titles, and LOECC members Cassie and Ashleigh Rushing and Melissa Sharpe will be leading the charge for the team, as well as competing for individual honors. Tee times begin at 8:00, and spectators are welcome.

Our friends from Metropolis, the Massac Country Lady Patriots Girls, also won their Regional and Sectional tournaments in class 1A, and will be competing for a state title Friday and Saturday at Hickory Ridge. Best of luck to both teams. You only wish you could play like these girls!
