AFTER 36 YEARS of serving the members of the Lake of Egypt Country Club and supervising Ernie and Mark, BJ has retired. She is looking forward to relaxing, enjoying her grandchildren, and playing golf. Randy has also retired after 15 years. We will miss them both, and wish we them all the best.

Cameron is back after spending a couple of years working at Sara Bay Country Club in Sarasota, Florida and Fresh Meadow Golf Club in Chicago. He is currently working toward his PGA membership and after spending the summer supervising the Nike Camp at Fresh Meadow, he is looking forward to overseeing a new junior program at the Lake of Egypt.

We are pleased to announce the hiring of Jim Tabor for the upcoming season to help Mark on the course. Jim comes from Kokopelli Golf Club, where he mowed fairways and tees. We are still looking for someone for rough mowing and other duties. Jill will be back to help out upstairs, and we hope to have Keeley and Taylor back lifeguarding and taking care of the pool.

As you know, our greens struggled with the heat this year, as did most of the courses in the Midwest. Except for the courses with newer greens, the past summer took its toll on most of us. The pleasant fall weather along with aerification, sanding and fertilizing allowed the greens to greatly improve, and we expect a full recovery by early spring. The goosegrass problem on holes one and three created an unwanted challenge. The chemical company representative providing the chemicals to prevent the weed problem was disappointed with the effectiveness of their product, and has offered to provide alternative chemicals at no charge for the upcoming season. It is with much hope, anticipation, and optimism that we look forward to 2012.

After 27 years of a full membership and a waiting list of people wanting to join, the Lake of Egypt Country Club is several members short of being full. This is a situation that is nationwide, as more and more clubs are competing for fewer and fewer golfers. Also, the overwhelming majority of our members are over the age of 45. In an effort to secure the future of the Club, the Board has initiated a new dues structure to attract younger members. Following the lead of other clubs, we are offering what they call a Junior Membership, which targets emmbers between the ages of 22 and 35. To retain our current majority of membrs and attract additional members, we are also offering a special plan for those 62 years of age and older. Information on these new plans can be obtained by calling the Club at 995-2661.

Annual Elections held

The Annual Meeting of the Lake of Egypt CC was held November 9th. Elections were held for three seats on the board. Paul Durham and Herb Cutsinger were re-elected, and Ryan Violett was nominated and elected to fill the vacancy left by retiring board member Rob Cash.

On behalf of the Board of Directors and the members of the Lake of Egypt Country Club I would like to thank Rob for his twelve years of service. As Vice President, he proudly served the members professionally, conscientiously and always with the best interest of the club at heart.

Lake of Egypt Club Championship

The Club Championship saw a familiar winner as Jeff Sanders shot 75-73 to beat runner-up Alan Diedrick and Henry Neicamp by four strokes. Alan defeated Henry on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff for the Senior Division of the Championship.

Brian DeBose held off a run by John Morgan to take the A-Flight honors, and Cassie Rushing again won the Ladies' Division, this time by nine shots over sister Ashleigh, shooting 63-71...ten under par.
